Case #1 This case involves a 2-year-old trach/vent dependent who has required several hospitalizations during this winter season. Mom and Dad have been at ACH with the patient during this time. Dad is the only one in the family working and had to miss several days to be present, as one parent must stay home with the other children. The family is requesting assistance with water and gas utilities. Total ask: $629.66 APPROVED
Case #2 This case involves a 3-year-old patient who has been routinely followed at ACH since 2020 due to a diagnosis of Nephroblastoma. (She has previously received support from the Baby Sharon fund.) The patient has been hospitalized 15 times so far due to her medical conditions. The Family has worked hard to adjust to living off survivor’s benefits due to the high level of assistance for the patient’s G-tube and trach dependency and from an unexpected parent passing this past year. Understandably, the massive loss from the parent’s passing has been very challenging for the family. Most recently, the family has been experiencing extreme financial strain from having to make home repairs after recent winter weather issues in their hometown. Since the patient is trach/vent dependent, the patient’s remaining parent had to prioritize making the repairs to provide a safe environment for the patient. The family is currently at risk of having the electricity turned off and having their car repossessed. We are hopeful the family may qualify for assistance from Baby Sharon for approximately $700 for the electricity bill and $1100 for the car note. Total ask: $1729.59 APPROVED
Case #3 This case involves a soon-to-be 13-year-old type 1 diabetic patient. This illness requires frequent follow-up with clinic appointments and a challenging management routine. The patient’s mother struggles to get caught up on rent due to inconsistencies in her work schedule. The patient’s mother works regularly but sometimes does not receive adequate hours, which she tries to address. She has also sought out additional employment. The request is for near $2000 for two months’ rent and $500 for car note. Total ask: $2100.80 APPROVED
Case #4 This case involves a teen who is undocumented and uninsured. The patient has end-stage renal disease and goes for dialysis three times a week. The family is working with an attorney to get approved for a work permit. The only barrier remaining is the attorney fees. The family receives some funds from odd jobs but tends to be inconsistent. They also receive financial help from local programs. The request for attorney fees of $1640. APPROVED
Case #5 This case involves a 7-year-old patient with hydrocephalus who also suffers from seizures. The patient has been hospitalized in an ICU for over a month with an additional 1-2 month stay expected for respiratory failure.. Due to this unexpected hospitalization and the duration, the family has been trying to be at the bedside, which has affected their work and finances. The family lives over two hours away and has utilized their limited funds for transportation, food, etc., which generally go towards rent/bills. The family is seeking assistance with their rent and electricity. Total ask: $623.36 APPROVED
Case #6: This case involves a 14 y/o patient with lupus. The patient has been hospitalized for over a month due to multiple complications including seizures and septic shock. The patient is expected to stay for a few more weeks. This hospitalization has caused financial strain for the family. The family lives about 3 hours from Little Rock with limited treatment options for the patient’s diagnosis. The patient lives in a single-parent household with other siblings whose parents are also the caregivers for their parents (the patient’s grandmother). The parent is behind on their car payment and is at risk of repossession. This is the only source of transportation and is vital for them to get back and forth for treatment. We are seeking assistance of $3,400 for several month’s car note.
Total ask: $3,400 APPROVED
