Baby Sharon Committee Meeting On February 2026 Cases

Case 1: This case involves an 8-month-old patient admitted since June 2025. Patient is

a chronic, medically complex patient who is trach and ventilator dependent. Due to this,

the patient requires two caregivers to be fully trained for patient’s care to be able to

discharge. This has caused caregivers to take off work since mid-January for the

hospital training. The training will continue until the end of this month. This has created

a financial burden for paying their rent. Family plans to return home in March when

training ends to resume work and prepare for the patient’s discharge so this need will be

alleviated. The patient needs a home to discharge to, or she will have to go to a facility

out of state due to their ventilator needs. Therefore, we are submitting for your

consideration the following needs: Rent ($1000.00). Total ask: $1000.00

The committee approved $1000 for 2 month’s rent.

Case 2: This case involves a 17yr old medically complex patient with a past medical

history including Sanfilippo’s syndrome, chronic seizures, dysphasia, and scoliosis. The

patient was admitted throughout December and January, with the last admission in

January beginning in the ICU due to her critical status. During this time, the caregivers

were unable to work due to the patient’s critical condition. The caregivers have now

returned to work but are behind on rent. The family would benefit from assistance as

without stable housing; the patient’s care needs are too great and would require facility

placement. Therefore, we are submitting for your consideration a request for

$1795.00 for one month’s rent. Total Ask: $ 1795.00

The committee approved $1795 for rent.
